National Citizen Service (4.87 MB PDF)
Conservative policy paper published in Spring 2010 which outlines plans for a National Citizen Service. It includes a two-month summer programme for 16 year-olds involving both residential and at-home components, delivered by independent charities, social enterprises and businesses.
Free to be young (467 KB PDF)
The Liberal Democrat youth policy agreed by the party in September 2009. It includes commitments to give young people a say over expenditure through, for example, local youth councils. Youth involvement will be monitored by setting up a cross-departmental young people's committee to ensure a joined up approach to youth issues in government.
A new package to develop local staff to support and train young people to conduct objective assessments of local services and support recommendations for service improvements.
