The past decade has seen a progressive shift in the legislative and policy framework relating to children and young people’s participation.
There are a number of legislative duties on public authorities to ensure that they involve the general public in decision-making, some of which relate specifically to children and young people. There are, however, significant variations depending on the type of public body concerned and the community of children and young people affected.
