Policy

Respect for children’s participation rights has becoming an increasingly prominent feature of law and policy affecting children in England. There have been various government initiatives which promote opportunities for children and young people to influence matters which affect them.

In this section we give an overview of policy affecting children and young people’s participation. The links listed below give details of particular Government departments that have specific responsibilities for elements of children and young people’s participation.

For details of policy which affects particular groups of children, such as children in care, or in specific settings or sectors such as health or early years, visit our topics pages.
