Human Rights are Children's Rights

A guide to ensuring children and young people’s rights are respected

Children's rights have equal status to adults' rights. However, children and young people often struggle to find information about their rights or how to take action if their rights have been violated. This guide offers children and young people, through adults who work with them, the opportunity to become more familiar with the Human Rights Act 1998 and other human rights legislation.

Human rights place the government and public services - including hospitals, schools and social services - under a duty to treat all individuals with fairness, equality, dignity and respect.
