Young people to have their say on Government Green Paper

The Ministry of Justice have launched a young people’s guide to their Green Paper Rights and Responsibilities: developing our constitutional framework. The guide is written specifically for young people to simplify the issues within the Green Paper and to encourage them to take part in the national debate on the future of rights and responsibilities in the UK.

The consultation wants to make sure everyone knows that their rights and freedoms are protected and what more the Government can do to protect them.

The Green Paper examines the constitutional relationship between the state and its citizens.
It looks at the core rights, responsibilities and values across all members of society in the UK. It explores what we mean by responsibilities and the type of rights we think might be included in any new constitutional document. The Green Paper also suggests a range of possibilities for drawing up a Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.

Once children and young people have read the young person's guide they can respond with their suggestions and improvements on the People, Power and Politics website or by messaging MoJ_Rights on Twitter.
