Seminar on listening to children and the Family Justice Review

Coram is inviting you to attend the half day ‘Listening to Children and the Family Justice Review’ seminar, taking place in London near Liverpool Street on Wednesday 17 November.

The seminar will be opened by Dame Gillian Pugh and chaired by Dr Carol Homden, Coram’s Chief Executive. Other speakers include Perpetua Kirby, co-author of the new edition of ‘Listening to Young Children'; Dr Caroline Leeson from the University of Plymouth; Christine Smart, Children’s Rights director for Cafcass; Professor Liz Trinder from the University of Exeter; representatives of the Cafcass Young People’s Board; and members of the Family Justice Review.

One of the questions the Family Justice Review currently asks is ‘In what types of cases is it important to hear the voice of the child to assist with decision making? How should the child’s voice be heard in the family justice system?’

Coram is about to publish a fully revised edition of the resource pack Listening to Young Children (with Open University Press). The 2004 edition was commissioned in response to failures to listen in the Climbié case.
