In partnership with the Council for Disabled Children, the Alliance for Inclusive Education and the Children’s Society, NCB is leading research on participation of disabled children and young people in services and matters that affect them.
Recent policy that encourages the involvement of children has shown to increase participation. However, the participation of disabled children and young people has not increased proportionately.
Developing the Participation of Disabled Children and Young People is a three year research project, funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund, that is exploring the most effective ways of enabling the participation of disabled children and young people in the development of services. Disabled children and young people will take part in the research process as young researchers and advisers. A report and toolkits for organisations to use, will result from the findings.
