Participation Works are Looking for Training Materials for 8 to 12s

Participation Works has been commissioned by the Department for Children, Schools and Families to produce a series of free online downloadable training resources. These resources will support organisations in developing children aged 8 to 12 to be more able to participate in decision-making.

Some of the training areas we are looking at for this age group are:

Young Facilitators, Young Researchers/evaluators, Children's Champions, How to Get Your Message Across, Taking Part in Adult Meetings, Young Recruiters, and Core Group Work Skills. If you can identify any areas that have not been mentioned here that you feel we need to focus on please email us and share your ideas.

We are looking for any existing training materials - in the above or any other areas - that you can share to help us identify good and interesting practice and to highlight any gaps. Any training materials that are used in the development of these resources will be acknowledged and we are also keen to develop them alongside Participation Works Network for England colleagues.

We are also interested to find out about the different groups of children they are developed for and their use and impact.

We have a budget for expert writers to develop some of the materials so please contact us if you have experience in the field and areas that you may want to contribute too. We plan to pilot the training materials later in the year with groups of 8-12 year olds to ensure we receive their expert input too.

Please send any materials or information you have to: Rachel Monaghan at rmonaghan@ncb.org.uk or call on 020 7843 6096 by Friday 12 October.
