National participation strategic vision launched

Participation Works has helped to launch a new publication making the case for the participation of children and young people in matters affecting them.

The National Participation Forum, a group of over 20 influential organisations committed to the participation of children and young people, has published An Equal Place at the Table for Children and Young People. This is the first in a series of new resources and research which will be released over the summer.

An Equal Place at the Table for Children and Young People is a strategic vision of national participation, making the case for involving children and young people in decision-making and listening to what they have to say. It highlights the key benefits and challenges for involving children, and what needs to be done to improve participation in the future so children’s voices can be routinely heard and taken seriously.

The document marks the launch of a sector-wide consultation on where participation goes next. The aim is to encourage managers and participation workers to give their views on how the participation agenda can best be progressed over the next decade. You can add your views at the bottom of the strategy page.
