The Look Listen Change consortium is looking for young people to advise them on the development of the Youth4U - Young Inspectors programme.
Hosted by NCB, the Look Listen Change consortium includes the British Youth Council (BYC), KIDS, the National Centre for Excellence in Residential Child Care (NCERCC) and the Council for Disabled Children (CDC). Through Youth4U - Young Inspectors small teams of young people from all over England will be involved in inspecting services in their area such as transport, health clinics, community policing, libraries, career advice and youth centres and giving constructive advice to the people in charge of them and/or who commissioned them.
The consortium is looking for young people to influence the design and content of a new microsite, run a big event in March 2010 which will share the successes from the first year of the Youth4U Young Inspectors programme and ultimately make sure young people affect the services offered to them.
Look Listen and Change is looking for young people who have experienced life challenges aged 13-19 (or disabled young people up to the age of 25) who are passionate, dedicated and want to make a difference. Young people applying will need to commit to attending a meeting every two months and travel, food, accommodation plus any support costs will be covered. Young people taking part will get the chance to meet new people, develop new skills and have fun!
For further information contact Nick Snow, Participation Officer, on nick.snow@byc.org.uk or on 020 7022 1971. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 14 October at 5pm.
Young people who are already taking part in the Youth4U – Young Inspectors programme will not be eligible to apply to take up this opportunity.
