The Young Londoners Participation Network (YLPN) is coordinated by a partnership of 4 key organisations; London Youth, Government Office for London, the Greater London Authority and the Partnership for Young London. They have been supporting those working in Children and Young People’s Participation for some time. With the addition of some funding from Participation Works the London coordinator Rosie Ferguson has been able to place a particular focus on meeting the needs of Participation Workers in the third sector. Rosie Ferguson is Director for London at London Youth. London Youth is a vibrant network of more than 400 community organisations – serving 75,000 young people, and their families, in every London borough. For more information visit www.londonyouth.org.uk.
The YLPN currently offers two things to workers; firstly an online forum set up by Participation Works. It enables participation workers across the capital to share practice and ideas, discuss developments in the field, and assist each other with advice and support.
The YLPN also meets face-to-face at quarterly meetings, hosted by the Greater London Authority. The intention of these meetings is to provide a space for those supporting children and young people’s participation to share practice, to network, and to find out about current consultation and engagement opportunities available.
There is also the YLPN fortnightly E-bulletin which circulates lots of information about London opportunities and events that is available for young Londoners.
