Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole Children’s Rights Service ensures that vulnerable children and young people’s voices are heard. We work with young people who are in care, or at risk of going into care. Sometimes we work on a one to one basis with young people where decisions are being made about their future, or if they want to make a complaint. Sometimes we work with groups of young people to ensure their views help to shape policy and practice within children’s social care.
We are looking for dynamic and flexible people to join our team.
This role involves working closely with young people to help them get their views across – either on an individual or group basis. The successful applicants will attend meetings either with, or for young people and ensure that their views are taken into account. There will also be opportunities to work with groups of young people to support them in wider participation activities such as a Children in Care Council and the recruitment and training of Children’s Services staff.
We need people who are able to work flexibly and on their own initiative to promote children and young people’s views.
We are looking for people who are good listeners and have previous experience of working with children and young people, especially those deemed ‘vulnerable’, a broad knowledge of IT, and with good communication and organisational skills.
This is a casual contract and hours will vary. Applicants need to be able to travel and available to meet with young people outside of school hours at a variety of venues. Applicants can be based in either Poole/Bournemouth to cover the south and east of the county or in Dorchester to cover the north and west of the county. Travel expenses will be paid.
