Who the course is for:
Young people between the age of 16-25 who are already charity trustees or would like to become one.
Aim of the course:
To develop young people to be effective members of a trustee board, by equipping them with the essential skills and knowledge that they need for this role.
Information about the course:
Youth at the Table is a one-day course adapted from the British Youth Council (BYC) training and resource pack. It introduces a young person to the role of trusteeship, as well as enhancing existing trustees understanding of how they can effectively and confidently speak with purpose.
The structure of the course is based around the Workforce Hub’s National Occupational Standards for Trustees and Management Committee Members, whilst activities and training methods have been developed with young people to make them more engaging and inspiring to other young people. Young people can bring a support worker along with them.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of course delegates will:
- Play an active part in formal meetings and take an effective and engaging role.
- Speak with purpose and confidence within a meeting situation.
- Influence the meeting in order to make sure you get issues across in the right way.
- Understand how a balance sheet works and what people are talking about when using fiancial lingo.
