How to Involve Children and Young People in Commissioning

Who the course is for:

Anyone currently involved in participation work with children and young people, who is interested in finding out more about how to involve children and young people in commissioning.

Aim of the course:

To provide delegates with an overview of the commissioning process, and to better understand the case in favour and arguments against young people’s involvement. This will enable them to
influence others and overcome barriers to young people’s involvement in commissioning.

Information about the course:

This new, innovative one-day training course is based on the popular resource ‘How to Involve Children and Young People in Commissioning’. Commissioning is about producing outcomes for children, young people and their families: outcomes that match the Every Child Matters priorities and deliver evidence of change in the real world. Central to this vision is the active involvement of children and young people.

This training course explores commissioning from a variety of perspectives, and examines the different parts of the process and ways to support children and young people to participate in all
aspects of commissioning.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of course delegates will have:

  • Develop their knowledge in this specific area of participation.
  • Discover ideas and exercises to use with children and young people in their own organisations.
  • Build the confidence to involve children and young people in commissioning.
