My Network

East Midlands Network

There have been many changes in this region regarding participation networks. When in post, the Regional Participation worker developed  an electronic database of more than 200 workers with an interest in participation across the nine local authority areas which make up the region and some successful initiatives and events to link people up took place during the life of this regional  post.  There is also the East Midlands Children’s Fund Participation Workers Group, which is primarily made up of Children’s Fund Participation Workers from across the East Midlands. It is a forum for sharing good practice, ideas and information about participation from strategic and practical points of view whilst supporting and informing each others’ work. . In the current climate, the development of participation within integrated children’s services arrangements is central to group discussions. The group also offers a sympathetic ear to the often frustrated and harangued participation pioneer.

The Participation Works Contract has been awarded to EMVY – East Midlands Voluntary Youth. Established in 2000, EMVY has a strong track record in supporting third sector organisations and a range of areas including participation and recently held a Forum event, entitled Exploring Youth Participation to share good practice sharing day in the region. EMVY is working in partnership with the Children’s Fund Group and taking recent developments into account when planning future activities and priorities.
