they help you get respect: How Participation Workers help Children & Young People booklet and DVD 

 

 

      

 

This is a booklet and DVD film package created by members of the Participation Workers Network for England (PWNE) as an introduction to ‘participation work’. It is a valuable tool for all those who wish to improve the way they involve children & young people – not just ‘Participation Workers’. You can view a short clip of the film above and even download the whole 10 minutes onto your computer using the links below.

 

“they help you get respect” draws on the ideas and experiences of children &
young people and adult participation workers from all over England.

 

It describes what participation work involves, explains why it is so
valuable to children & young people – in their own words, and gives key tips
for effective practice.

Promoting Positive Behaviour Creatively DVD

The case studies on the DVD share good practices from partners in the East Midlands in encouraging the participation of young children to promote emotional wellbeing and anti-bullying practices.

This project was sponsored through Participation Works and supported by the Government Office for the East Midlands. The DVD was produced by QUAD Derby and managed by SDSA.

PARTYcipation NCH and Leicester Children's Fund 24/09/2007

 

 

Extracts from the 24th October 2007 "PARTYcipation" event which was an opportunity for Children's Fund supported projects to have their children highlight the good practice and benefits received in the projects in the form of creative presentations of their choosing.

Imperial Avenue Infant School

 

 

The animated case study is based on children's own experiences at school, using characters created by them. Children present as happy and secure, who with support, develop their social skills and confidence further which is key to the climate for learning and socially inclusive practice - a welcoming school for children and their families.
