Equal Opportunities And Diversity

The Participation Works Network England (PWNE) is part of the Participation Works programme of work to support organisations to enable them to effectively involve children and young people in the development, delivery and evaluation of services, which affect their lives.

Participation Works is fully committed to the active promotion of equality and diversity as an integral part of its work and in creating an ethos, which is supportive, fair and free from discrimination.  This commitment is underpinned by the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child and by relevant current equality legislation.

We recognise that many groups and individuals are disadvantaged and discriminated against, both directly and indirectly and that this discrimination prevents these individuals and groups from fulfilling their potential, from having their contributions recognised and celebrated and from accessing services.  Participation Works is committed to taking action to redress this discrimination in all its activities.

Participation Works views equal opportunities as meaning the opposition of all forms of unlawful or unfair discrimination in areas such as race, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability or impairment, health status, trade union activity, migrant status, faith or socio-economic status.

In order to fulfill the commitment of Participation Works and the PWNE to equal opportunities and diversity

All PWNE members will

  • be expected to uphold the principles of equal opportunities and will undertake their participation work and engage with other Network members in ways that are inclusive and non-discriminatory
