What is RSS?

RSS Feed logo

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication (although there is some debate on what it stands for with Rich Site Summary or RDF Site Summary being two possible alternatives) and is a method of making recently updated content quickly available to web users.

The updated content feeds into a "news reader" which is designed to allow users to check for new content on a number of sites without having to visit the each site to check for new information. RSS feeds are available from any page where the orange logo (above) is shown.

Some browsers like Firefox allow you to create live bookmarks within the browser itself.
