ENYAN Launches New ‘Creative Youth Consultation & Participation Toolkit’ in London

ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network) invites the wider youth arts sector to come along and pick up a copy of the new ‘ENYAN Creative Youth Consultation & Participation Toolkit’ on Monday 24th September at NESTA (1 Plough Place, London EC4A 1DE ) between 12.45 and 2pm.

This year, ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network) launched a national campaign, ‘What Do YOUTH ink?’, which aims to raise awareness of the key role the arts can play in youth consultation and participation. As part of this campaign, and after much research and consultation with the youth arts sector, the network is delighted to announce the launch of the ‘Creative Youth Consultation & Participation Toolkit’, which has been developed to provide clarity and support for the youth arts sector in this field and includes:

• An introduction to the expectations laid upon the youth arts sector in terms of youth consultation

• 12 real case studies demonstrating how the arts have been used to consult with young people in the past, in particular with those most hard to reach individuals, and how challenges and difficulties were overcome

• An overview of the main cost implications involved in effective youth consultation advocating for additional support

• The findings of ENYAN ’s research into young people’s preferences demonstrating how young people really like to be consulted and what we, as a sector, do well, or not so well!

• Signposting to key youth consultation & participation contacts, organisations, publications and resources

The toolkit is of value to you if you work with, or for, young people and would like to take a creative approach to consultation projects or want to encourage creative participation. It is also of great importance to funders and governing bodies and acts as an advocacy document to encourage additional support for this area in the future.

Those interested are welcome to come along on 24th September to pick up a toolkit, meet the London ENYAN Regional Advisory Panel (RAP), find out more about the campaign/ENYAN and to network over a coffee and nibbles. To attend please email enyan2@artswork.org.uk or call Lisa, Projects Assistant, on 023 8063 0960.
