Abi Carter is the National Coordinator of the Participation Works Network for England. Her role is currently covered by Natalie Jeal. Abi has been running the PWNE since 2004 and has seen it develop as a leading forum for sharing practice relating to children and young people’s participation with over 1200 members. She previously worked at The Children’s Society as Project Manager of Lewisham Children’s Fund Participation Project, and as Development Worker for the London Streetwork Project. Prior to this she worked in France, teaching English and working as a volunteer for the youth wing of the French Anti-poverty charity ATD Quart Monde.
Angela Reynolds is the Participation Works Enquiries, Information and Partnership co-ordinator. Angela is responsible for the development of the enquiry and information service and for ensuring that learning from all elements of the project are used to develop and improve the Participation Works programme. Prior to joining Participation Works Angela was the Helpline and Information Manager at the Family Planning Association. She has a background in sexual health nursing, health promotion, training and public health research.
Chantel Lockiby is the Participation Works Enquiry and Information Assistant. Her role consists of answering all enquiries about participation and supporting the Enquiry, Information Partnership Coordinator, Angela Reynolds with the development of the enquiry and information service. Chantel previously worked at NCVO.
Claire Grant is the Participation Works Network and Communications Assistant. Claire works on the Participation Network for England and the online Gateway. Her role on the network involves dealing with membership enquiries. Claire also produces the fortnightly ebulletin, which goes out to network members. On the Gateway her role involves maintaining the news and events pages and putting resources relevant to the world of children and young people’s participation in the Resources Hub.
James Mullarkey is the Gateway Coordinator for Participation Works. James is responsible for maintaining and developing all aspects of the Participation Works online Gateway. Previously James worked for Children's Services at Islington Council.
Jo Denoris is the Training and Consultancy Coordinator for Participation Works. Jo is responsible for coordinating the training and consultancy services across the Participation Works Consortium, involving sharing effective participation practice, evidence and standards. Prior to joining Participation Works, Jo worked for The Back-Up Trust, a small national Charity supporting adults and young people with Spinal Cord Injury. She also has experience of working with young people as a trainer supporting them in changing behavioural patterns. Her background is in health and rehabilitation.
Mandy Douglas is the Head of Participation Works. Mandy's primary role is to manage the Participation Works project ensuring that organisations delivering services to Children and Young People are fully equipped with the tools, information and resources to fully integrate participation in their organisation. Previously Mandy was the Head of Training, Development and Outreach for Gingerbread and has a strong background in Partnership working, Community based services, National Learning and Development. Mandy is a trustee of JustB which provides activities, advice and support for young people in Bromley.
Natalie Jeal is the National Coordinator of the Participation Works Network for England currently covering for Abi Carter. With a background in complaints management and inclusive volunteering in the disability sector, Natalie is passionate about communication and empowerment. She also works as a Creative Arts Consultant in the arts and education sector, and recently developed the Creative Services programme for Arts Council England, London engaging Children’s Services across the capital in using the arts as consultation or delivery tools to reach out more effectively to children and young people.
Nick Snow is the Finance & Administration Coordinator for Participation Works’ Core Team. A graduate in Sociology, Nick spent his university summers working in France and was actively involved in the running of activity clubs for Children and Young People. He has been involved in a variety of administrative and project-based roles prior to joining Participation Works, with the QCA, Age Concern and Young TimeBank.
Paulina Filippou is the Communications Officer for Participation Works. In her role she focuses on raising the profile of the project through all the possible communications channels available. Having completed a Psychology degree, Paulina worked for five years in mental health, both directly with mentally ill patients and with families and carers, including young carers and siblings. Her career then changed direction and for the last four years she has been working in communications and events management in the voluntary sector, and with an interest in health and children and young people.
