Salary £26,025 – £30,018. (NJC pay scale: 28 -33 inc. Inner London Weighting), depending on experience
Location: London
International Representation Coordinator for the British Youth Council
Are you passionate about international issues and supporting young people to participate in decisions which affect them?
The British Youth Council (BYC) is an organisation led by young people for young people, with a history of international work dating back to 1948. BYC believes that decisions taken internationally have an impact at the local level and vice versa. In this, our 60th year, we are launching an ambitious new programme which will lead to inclusive, effective and recognised UK youth participation at international meetings (EU, Commonwealth, global).
The International Youth Representation Coordinator will set up and deliver a newly funded programme ‘Young UK Ambassadors’ with the support of part-time workers based in the UK Youth Parliament, the Northern Ireland Youth Forum and Funky Dragon (Welsh Youth Parliament). The role will be pivotal in building awareness of international issues amongst young people and ensuring that UK youth participation at the international level grows from and feeds back into wider representation structures.

A genuine passion for supporting young people’s participation and tackling international issues is essential.

Friday, August 22, 2008 : Rainer Crime Concern, London - Project Worker
Click for details...
Rainer Crime Concern
Project Worker-Integrated Youth Support Service
Location: Lewisham,
Hours: Full Time
Salary: Up to £22,888
We’re already achieving great things in Lewisham. You’ll help to develop our existing success in the north of this Borough, on the Silwood Estate, as part of a new multi-agency, integrated youth support service – incorporating a generic youth service, as well as a targeted crime prevention programme. This potential flagship model of delivery, if successful, could well be replicated elsewhere in Lewisham.
You’ll provide support for our core group - the 13-17 year olds who are most at risk of offending, and their families. A typical intervention will last for 6-8 months, and you’ll make sure that it meets the service user’s individual needs – ensuring that effective multi-agency identification, referral and initial assessment processes are in place.
Helping young people and their families to get involved in designing, implementing and evaluating our intervention programmes, you’ll advocate on their behalf where appropriate. This will mean liaising with key agencies including schools, police and the Youth Offending Team.
With a relevant qualification or experience in youth or community work, you’ll have a track record of engaging young people who display challenging behaviour. Highly organised and with plenty of initiative, you should be comfortable managing your own time. It’s important that you understand issues relating to truancy and exclusion, youth crime prevention, youth justice and community safety.
Finally, you must be able to work regular evenings and occasional weekends.
Closing Date: 12.00pm 4th September 2008.
For further details and an application form visit our website, www.rainercrimeconcern.org.uk or e-mail recruitment@rainercrimeconcern.org.uk
